Asra Midlands is a Leicester-based black and minority ethnic (BME) housing association, which provides a diverse selection of high quality general needs and older persons accommodation. The Association offers experience and expertise in the provision of culturally appropriate services for those residents in sheltered housing that require them. The accommodation is not restricted to any one group and the residents at Asra's sheltered schemes come from a range of diverse backgrounds. This is also the case in general needs housing and in both cases the allocation is based on need.
The name Asra stems from the Hindi and Urdu term for support and protection. We understand the diverse cultural, spiritual and linguistic needs of our residents, ensuring we create an environment which will meet the individual requirements of all our residents.
Today we operate in 12 local authority areas and own more than 900 homes in Leicester and parts of the West Midlands, which are managed by Sanctuary Midlands.
Asra Midlands was established in 1979 and became part of Sanctuary Group in November 2005.
