Feathered and four-legged friends

Feathered and four-legged friends will be trotting and waddling about at aSanctuary Care home for an animal petting afternoon.

Local families are invited toThe Rosary Nursing Home, which provides care for the elderly – includingspecialist dementia care - on Friday 13 July to see a pony and foal, continental giant rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and dogs between 3pm and 6pm.

As well as the animals - the majority of which are the home’s own pets - there will also be burgers, hot dogs and refreshments. The entrance fee of £1 per person and £5 for families will go to the home’s activities fund.

Manager Lyn Taylor said: “Our residents absolutely love animals, their faces light up when they see them so we thought what better way to make the most of the day than to invite families from the local community to join in.

“Stroking animals can be so therapeutic, especially for people living with dementia because they find it very calming, so we are really looking forward the event.”
