Spectacular Jubilee street party

A spectacular indoor street party kick-started the Jubilee celebrations at aSanctuary Care home in Shiregreen, Sheffield.

The residents ofPark View Care Home enjoyed an old fashioned street party to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Saturday.

The atrium of the home, which provides care for the elderly, includingspecialist dementia care, was decked to the nines in bunting and the traditional regalia.

To make sure everyone looked the part there was face painting – in the traditional red, white and blue - and music from the era with entertainer Stevie Moore.

The home’s team quizzed the residents about food they ate during this decade and dished up a traditional feast, including bread ‘n’ dripping, spam, pork pies and fairy cakes.

The home’s manager Donna Ashton said: “Our residents fondly recalled memories from the era and really enjoyed sampling the food they grew up with for the first time in years!”
