Carole Dormer, Gwendolyn Mattock, Mark Ord and Karl Evans as Abba.

Sanctuary Care’s Hotel and Catering Services Team donned nylon wigs, skin tight trousers and knee high boots and belted out Abba classics to raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

So far the tribute act has raised £200 following Friday’s event, when they performed Waterloo and Thank You For The Music for guests at the National Association of Care Catering’s (NACC) South East Christmas party.

The fabulous four comprised Frida – otherwise known as Hotel and Catering Services Manager Carole Dormer, Sanctuary Care’s very own blonde bombshell ‘Agnetha’ - Hotel and Catering Services Support Manager Gwendolyn Mattock, Chef Development Manager Mark Ord (Björn) and Hotel and Catering Services Support Manager Karl Evans (Benny).

Carole said the theme for the event, which took place at The Park Inn Heathrow Hotel in London, was underground stations.

“We took it one step further and thought if we’re going to do Waterloo why don’t we perform as Abba and raise some money for BBC Children in Need at the same time,” she said.

“Everybody dressed up and the costumes were fantastic but we were the entertainment for the night. We didn’t mind making a fool of ourselves for a very good cause. It was great fun and everybody joined in the spirit of the evening.”

Guests dug deep to throw money into a bucket for the team and more is rolling in with sponsorship. Carole added: “I think they were giving it to us in the hope that we’d shut up to be honest but when we started the music everybody was so excited and got up and started dancing.”
The NACC South East Chair Neel Radia said of the Swedish spectacle: “Carole, Gwen, Karl and Mark provided an inspirational and realistic performance of Abba and delegates attending were left speechless by the fantastic performance.”
