Watlington chef tastes success

Sanctuary Care residents will taste mouth-watering dishes prepared by a talented Watlington chef, after they won pride of place on the organisation’s Queen’s Jubilee celebration menu.

Marcella Field, fromWatlington & District Nursing Home - an Oxfordshire home which provides care for the elderly, including nursing anddementia care - took part in a cook-off with fellow chefs in the organisation’s Queen’s Jubilee Recipe Competition as part of celebrations in its homes to mark this national holiday.

Her Celebration Soup and Royal Bacon Clanger got taste-buds tingling and will now appear on Sanctuary Care’s Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Menu, to be prepared by chefs in its 47 homes in June.

Marcella said: “To win a place for one dish to appear was great but to win two was just fantastic.

“It is so important to have competitions like this because it gives people a chance to show their creative flair and showcase the quality of care catering.”

Marcella’s Celebration Soup starter is a blend of Bramley apples, cheddar cheese, celery and onion.

Her Royal Bacon Clanger main is a suet baked pastry, filled with bacon, leeks, onion and sage, with a rich chive sauce.
