Care home staff make a splash at car wash
Staff at a Bridgewater care home held a car wash on Friday, 9th September to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and their residents’ amenity fund.
Staff from Sanctuary Care’s The Rosary Nursing Home had their sponges and cloths at the ready as local people and residents’ family members lined up to get their saloons shined and their coupes cleaned at the Mayfield Drive Home.
The day was a great success, and with more than 25 cars getting the treatment, the home was able to raise £150 which was split 50/50 between the residents’ fund and the Alzhiemer’s Society.
Wendy Parkin, the home’s activity co-ordinator and chief car-washer, said: “It was hard work cleaning so many cars, but we were really pleased with the turn-out. The Alzheimer’s Society do fantastic work, it’s great to be able to give them some support and the money we raised for our residents’ fund will make a real difference as well.”
Following on from the success of the car wash the home will be holding a car boot sale on Saturday, 8th October from 10am-5pm, entry is £5 per car and all of the proceeds will go to the residents’ Christmas fund.
Anyone interested in coming to the sale can contact Wendy at the home on 01278 727500.
