Claire Jamieson – business and administration apprentice

Business and administration apprentice Claire says her apprenticeship with Sanctuary has opened doors and given her the perfect platform to succeed.

Claire’s apprenticeship sees her working as part of the Sanctuary Students team in Glasgow, ensuring records are kept accurate and up-to-date and answering enquiries from students living in our local accommodation.

Before joining Sanctuary, Claire had gained experience in a variety of different roles, from studying creative cake production at City of Glasgow College to working in retail and setting up her own successful home cleaning business.

But it was the opportunity to work with people and develop her administration skills that encouraged her to apply for an apprenticeship with Sanctuary.

She said: “I saw the opportunity with Sanctuary being advertised online. I really enjoy working with people and helping others and have good organisational skills, so I decided to apply. I was thrilled when I was chosen and couldn’t wait to get started.”

Claire enjoys the variety that her apprenticeship offers, enabling her to further develop her administration skills and gain an understanding of the office workplace while studying for valuable qualifications at the same time.

She said: “I enjoy working with others, meeting lots of new people and providing the best possible support I can to the organisation.

“Everyone is very helpful and I receive a lot of support from the managers and staff at all the different sites I work at.”

Claire is hoping to secure a permanent role with Sanctuary Students after completing her apprenticeship and would like to work her way up to a management position. She feels that her apprenticeship is helping to get her career off to the best possible start.

She said: “I think very highly of Sanctuary’s apprenticeship scheme and would recommend it to anyone as a great way to get started in your chosen career.

“My apprenticeship has given me the chance to gain skills, confidence and qualifications. It has opened so many doors for me and I love the opportunity it is giving me.”
