Access to employment - Shiregreen, Sheffield

More than 500 people discovered the latest employment opportunities in Shiregreen, Sheffield, at a popular jobs fair.

Sanctuary Housing worked in partnership with community regeneration charity SOAR to run the jobs fair, which was attended by exhibitors from Sanctuary Home Care, the NHS, Aldi, KnowHow and Samfos Health, as well as Sheffield College and Jobcentre Plus.

Local people were given the latest information on local job vacancies, training and apprenticeship opportunities and access to one-to-one CV workshops.

The event took place at Shiregreen Neighbourhood Centre, supported by an £800 grant from Sanctuary and 251 volunteer hours from SOAR. Helping residents to access employment is a key priority for Sanctuary’s work in communities.

Melanie King, Sanctuary’s Neighbourhood Partnerships Manager for Shiregreen, said: “One of our main aims is supporting our residents to access meaningful employment and training opportunities, and by working in partnership with SOAR we are helping local community members take the first step towards achieving their career ambitions.”
