Ben Jackson – Graduate Case Study

Sanctuary’s social objectives were crucial in influencing Ben’s decision to apply for the Group’s graduate programme.

For Ben, it was a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of vulnerable people, while allowing him to follow his ambition for professional growth.

In the Asset Management team, his first placement, Ben was given responsibility for strategically reviewing a large number of the Group’s assets in Oxfordshire, identifying development opportunities and areas for improvement. This included technical tasks such as financial appraisals and managing relationships with local councils and businesses.

Following this, Ben, who studied English and Philosophy at the University of Exeter, moved into Care Business Transformation, which enabled him to get involved with a number of ambitious projects in Sanctuary Care homes.

As well as helping to develop projects, he was able to spend time in the homes meeting residents and staff and seeing the improvements first hand.

Through this Ben has enhanced his skills in project management, strategic planning, data analysis, human resource management and PR.

He said of the graduate programme: “Each placement has offered vastly different challenges and experiences, but with a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Development Manager, as well as an ever-growing network of supportive colleagues and mentors, the Programme strikes an unusual balance between encouraging fast development and offering a supportive working environment.”
