A picture of Libby's story

Libby studied Human Geography at Newcastle University.

Studying human geography at university sparked an interest in the important link between housing and community. I wanted to pursue my career in this field and within an organisation with social objectives.

Sanctuary struck me with its commercially driven environment, to enable a sustainable provision of services to vulnerable people. The offer of rotations around different business arms in one of the UK’s largest Housing Associations and the experience this would bring appealed to me; I applied to the scheme.

My placements in Supported Living, Maintenance and Reinvestment, Commercial and Care provided great variety, flagging strengths and gaps in my skillset, ticking off things I do and don’t enjoy.

The graduate scheme offers an excellent balance of support and being challenged. A dedicated learning and development manager, and an established peer support system, encourages active growth and reflection for improvement. I am currently studying for the Charted Institute of Management Accountants Certificate to extend my skillset.

I am thrilled to have secured a permanent position as a Projects Analyst, in Sanctuary Care, where I will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of projects to ensure we deliver the best service to residents.

I intend to establish a sound business improvement skillset, complemented by a PRINCE2 Practitioner Project Management qualification.
