Joe Perry – Graduate Case Study

Wanting to work for a large organisation not driven solely by profit was the chief motivation behind Joe applying for Sanctuary’s Graduate Development Programme.

After successfully securing a place, he went on to complete placements within the Development, Housing, Asset Management and Commercial teams.

Following completion of the Graduate Development Programme, Joe took the opportunity to study for an accountancy qualification funded by Sanctuary and now works as a Business Development Accountant. This involves assisting Sanctuary in growing its provision of supported accommodation for vulnerable client groups with a host of challenges, including learning disabilities and mental health difficulties.

“The experience I have gained since starting on the Sanctuary Graduate Development Programme has taught me much about how I work best in a large organisation and about the kind of role I want to pursue in future,” said Joe, who studied Philosophy and Politics at the University of Manchester.

“The scheme has been exactly what I wanted it to be and the roles I have undertaken have given me extensive experience of project management, customer service, data analysis and business planning.”

Joe, who also has a Masters in Political Theory from the University of Sheffield, said: “I would definitely recommend the Sanctuary Development Programme as an opportunity for graduates to further their understanding and knowledge of the kind of career they would like to pursue.

“I thoroughly enjoy my work and I do not believe that I would be in the same place if it were not for my experiences on the Graduate Development Programme.”
