Two Sanctuary Group employees have been commended at the 2015 Worcestershire Group Training Association (WGTA) Apprenticeship Awards.

The apprenticeship awards

Faisal Zaib won the Excellence in Accountancy award whilst Kimberley Benfield picked up the Level 3 Apprentice of the Year accolade at the awards ceremony.

The annual WGTA Apprenticeship Awards acknowledge the success of vocational training delivered through apprenticeship programmes designed to prepare young people for key jobs with local businesses.

Around 30 of Sanctuary Group’s apprentices were also in attendance and received recognition having achieved a range of qualifications, including Level 2 Apprenticeships in Accountancy and Level 2 and 3 in Business and Administration.

Sanctuary’s award-winning apprenticeship programme

Sanctuary Group’s apprenticeship programme is helping many young people into work. Nationwide, the leading housing and care provider has supported nearly 1200 young people both directly and indirectly through development partners.

The scheme offers roles in a range of areas including finance, IT, business administration, health, care, housing, maintenance operations, hospitality and catering, and horticulture.

Those taking part in the programme benefit from on-the-job training and receive support to work towards nationally recognised qualifications, allowing them to earn while they learn.

Michelle Wood, head of learning and development for Sanctuary Group, said: “We are delighted that Faisal and Kimberley have been recognised with these awards which are testament to their hard work and commitment to their apprenticeship programmes.

“Our award-winning scheme is helping to create valuable training and employment opportunities for young people who are having a positive impact on our business, and we look forward to seeing more apprentices develop through the programme.”
