A picture of Worcester apprentice wins at county's awards

A Sanctuary Group apprentice is celebrating after scooping a prestigious accolade at this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship awards.

Alex Tyrer, who recently completed his higher accountancy apprenticeship with the Worcester-based leading housing and care provider, received the award for ‘Higher Apprentice of the Year’ at the awards ceremony.

National apprenticeship programme

Sanctuary Group’s national apprenticeship programme has been running for nine years, during which time more than 1,300 young people have been supported into work.

Apprentices on the programme work in the Group’s operations studying for qualifications whilst gaining valuable on-the-job experience.

Placements include finance, IT, business and administration, health and social care, housing, maintenance and horticulture.

“A great platform for my career”

Alex, 22, said: “The apprenticeship programme at Sanctuary is a great platform for my career. I am extremely thankful for the support that I have received throughout and am proud to have received this award.”

“The positive impact our apprenticeship scheme is having”

Michelle Wood, Group Head of Learning and Development at Sanctuary, added: “I am delighted that Alex’s achievements have been recognised in this way.

“The continued success achieved by our apprentices reflects the positive impact our apprenticeship scheme is having on both our business and young people’s careers. These two things alone highlight how valuable apprenticeships are in developing new talent for the future.”
