A picture of Care team continues success with national award nomination

The team at a Leicester care home have had their dedication and hard work recognised by being shortlisted for a national award.

Staff at Asra House Residential Care Home, which is run by Sanctuary Care, have been shortlisted in the Support and Care Team of the year category at the Housing Heroes Awards 2018.

Providing residential and dementia care for residents with an Asian lifestyle, the Asra House team has already enjoyed success in recent months after winning the Care Team honour in the Great British Care Awards 2018.

The home is rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and was also named among the carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Homes in the East Midlands in 2017.

Its success comes at a time when Sanctuary Care, which manages more than 100 care homes across England and Scotland, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Asra House’s team were nominated for the Housing Heroes award not only for the care they give residents but for their efforts in creating a community at the home.

Staff, who speak several Asian languages, work hard to forge strong relationships with residents and the creation of resident champions ensures they have a say in the running of Asra House.

Meals are prepared with sensitivity to religious beliefs and festivals are celebrated with the input of family members.

Home manager Dina Dasani said: “Everyone at Asra House works extremely hard to make sure our residents receive the highest standard of care.

“Being shortlisted for this award further demonstrates this and I am very proud of their efforts.”
