A picture of Sanctuary Homes invests £10,000 in community hall refurbishment

A popular Essex community facility is being given a new lease of life thanks to the efforts of a national housing developer.

Sanctuary Homes is investing £10,000 refurbishing Canewdon Village Hall, including a complete redecoration of the outside of the building and replacement of existing double glazed windows.

The work is being carried out alongside the delivery of new affordable homes at former garage sites across the Rochford district.

It is part of Sanctuary’s MORE programme, which connects with people in places where Sanctuary is developing new homes and helps to engage future residents with the organisation’s work.

Plans are in place to develop new family homes at Kimberley Road in Great Wakering, Harris Court in Hockley and Althorne Way in Canewdon.

Chris Nixon, Sanctuary’s Assistant Development Manager, said: “An integral aspect of any development is being able to give something back to the community.

“Canewdon Village Hall is used by a variety of local groups and this refurbishment will ensure they have a facility they can be proud to use for years to come.”

Colleen Eccles, Sanctuary’s Head of Development – Relationship Management, commented: “As part of our MORE programme we are always looking to support projects in the communities where we are building new homes.

“We are pleased to be able to use this money to improve a popular venue which benefits local people.”
