For Executive Personal Assistant (PA) Jade, the support on offer at Sanctuary Group has enabled her to complete a first-class honours degree in business following her initial apprenticeship.

Jade, who worked on her degree while managing her high-profile job as Executive PA to one of Sanctuary’s most senior directors, credits the Group with helping her to achieve her top-level qualification.

“Without the support I had at work, completing my degree would have been much more difficult,” she said.

“Sanctuary were really flexible in allowing me study time when I needed it, as well as access to resources.”

The now 26-year-old started at Sanctuary in August 2011 as a Business and Admin Apprentice, and from her very first interview was impressed with what the Group had to offer. Jade explained: “The person who interviewed me said hello to almost everyone who walked past us on the way to the interview room; the whole place struck me as very friendly and professional.”

Jade came to Sanctuary after realising the traditional university route wasn’t for her. She began her apprenticeship in the Finance department, before moving on to admin roles in the Group’s executive function, where she completed her NVQ Level 3 qualification. She added: “I also received in-depth support during my apprenticeship, as Sanctuary provided me with opportunities to use and demonstrate the skills I needed to fulfil my NVQ.

Jade would also urge anyone to consider an apprenticeship as an alternative to university. She said: “My story is proof that, with the right employer, an apprenticeship really can lead to great things.

“Not only have I got a fantastic career, I’ve also got a degree in something I’m really interested in, all with Sanctuary’s support.”
