Residents moving into a new luxury housing development will be able to thank inspired Herefordshire schoolchildren for their new addresses.

Beech Grove Homes is launching 28 new high quality properties at its £4 million Newlands development in Stoke Lacy on Saturday 22 June.

The main road will be known as Woodland View, a name thought up by pupils at nearby Burley Gate C E Primary School, who took part in a construction workshop.

Beech Grove Homes spent time with the young people as part of its MORE programme, which aims to engage with people in the places it is building new homes.

Work to deliver the two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, which will be available for a variety of purchase options including shared ownership and outright sale, is moving quickly and people will be able to reserve properties at the launch event.

Colleen Eccles, Head of Place Shaping at Beech Grove Homes, said: “This is a significant development for Stoke Lacy and it has been a pleasure to work with the school on this project.

“The children thought really hard about the local history, geography and landscape when submitting their ideas and I hope they will remember their involvement for years to come.”

Isabella Ferguson, National Head of Sales for Beech Grove Homes, commented: “We’re really excited by how our Newlands development is taking shape and we are proud to be offering people the opportunity to purchase a property in such a sought after location.

“This launch weekend is a chance for people to find out more about the development or shared ownership scheme and I look forward to meeting them.”

The launch takes place at Stoke Lacy village hall and people interested in the homes can book an appointment by calling 01905 630073 or sending an email to Newlands@countrywide.co.uk

Newlands, which marks the first foray into the Midlands by Beech Grove Homes, is being built in four phases, with the last homes due to be completed in early 2020.

The three pupils who thought up Woodland View were presented with book vouchers at a special assembly.

Burley Gate C E Primary School headteacher Beverley Donald added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Beech Grove Homes and I would like to congratulate Megan, Bethany and Fabian on selecting the winning name.”
