Minister for Rough Sleeping and Housing Eddie Hughes and local MP Lucy Allan met Sanctuary residents in Telford as they enjoyed a tour of homes in the area.

Sanctuary Chief Executive Craig Moule and Telford MP Lucy Allan joined the Minister to view Sanctuary’s homes within the Telford Millennium Community, discuss Sanctuary’s refurbished Telford office and chat with residents about the social housing white paper.

After the tour was over, Mr Hughes also joined Sanctuary’s National Resident Scrutiny Panel to hear their thoughts on the recent social housing white paper and how they hold Sanctuary to account for service delivery to customers.

Mr Hughes said: “It’s been excellent to visit this very high-quality housing scheme that Sanctuary has.

“It feels to me that Sanctuary has got a perfect blend of housing that has created a real community feel and, clearly from the residents I’ve spoken to, the residents are engaged with the process and delighted with the service they’re receiving.”

Ms Allan, who first opened Sanctuary’s Oleander House supported living and Rose Manor retirement living services on the site in 2015, said: “I’ve visited Oleander House and Rose Manor on several occasions; this scheme is probably one of the most impressive we have in Telford.

“I was delighted see residents enjoying their homes in the Telford Millennium Community. A particular highlight was speaking to one of my constituents, a Sanctuary resident, hearing directly about their experience with services and living in Telford.”

Craig added: “This visit was a great chance to show Mr Hughes our community, for he and Ms Allan to meet our residents and an opportunity to talk about the social housing white paper and what it means for supporting residents.”
