A picture of Faisal Zaib – Portfolio Analyst

Faisal joined Sanctuary as an apprentice in 2013 and describes the decision as one of the best he has made.

In that time he has gone from strength to strength, taking on a number of roles and earning promotions, leading to his current position as Portfolio Analyst.

Faisal’s dedication to his career has also seen him rewarded with being named Worcestershire Group Training Association Apprentice of the Year in 2015 and Worcestershire Apprentice Ambassador of the Year in 2017.

“Joining Sanctuary was one of my best and career-defining decisions,” he said. “The organisation has a great reputation of developing their apprentices both in the work place and academically.

“Being a not-for-profit organisation was also another key factor in me joining the Group.”

As a Portfolio Analyst, Faisal is responsible for managing the governance and assurance of projects carried out by Information Systems (IS), including assessing risks and reviewing progress with team leaders.

He also assists with the planning and resourcing of projects as well as the monitoring of budgets, SAP purchase orders and invoices.

Faisal commented: “My current role was always one I had my eyes on as it fits my goal of becoming a project manager in the very near future.”

Faisal’s Sanctuary journey began in 2013 and he hasn’t looked back.

“I had just returned from travelling in my gap year and had completed a national diploma in Business (with triple distinctions equivalent to three As at A-level),” he explained.

“I had a place confirmed at the University of Worcester prior to being offered the accountancy apprenticeship here at Sanctuary.”

Upon completion of his apprenticeship in 2016, when he also became AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualified, Faisal went on to secure a full-time role as a Development Administrator within the Finance Development Team.

In July 2017 he was promoted into the Payroll Team as a Senior Administrator and in March 2018 took on the role of Portfolio Co-Ordinator for IS before moving into his current position.

Faisal has also embraced Sanctuary’s employee volunteering programme, giving his time to Fort Royal Primary School, New Hope children’s charity and Maggs Day Centre.

“I do this every year and it’s a fantastic scheme Sanctuary has,” he added.
