Building relationships with staff, residents and their families is the key focus in Mandy Terry’s role as Head of Care.

Based at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Jubilee Court in March, Cambridgeshire, Mandy’s job supervises the day-to-day running of the care services provided to residents.

“It’s very rewarding knowing you have made a positive impact on people’s lives, which is why having good relationships is so important,” she said.

Over the years Mandy has worked in various areas of the sector including a residential care home, the NHS, prison service and specialist dementia homes.

She began her role with Sanctuary Retirement Living in January 2018 after deciding she wanted to move into more general care.

“I absolutely loved my time in dementia care but felt I needed a change,” Mandy said. “I looked into Jubilee Court and its background, and it felt like this was where I was meant to be. I have recently been promoted to registered manager which was one of the proudest moments of my career.”

Mandy continued: “One of the things I love most about my job is that I play an instrumental part in the smooth running of the care unit, but at the same time I’m able to be there for the families of our residents, whether that’s a formal meeting or simply a shoulder to cry on.”
